Eberechi Eze to Arsenal transfer timeline clear as Andrea Berta told what to do to complete deal

Arsenalremain interested in signing Crystal Palace's Eberechi Eze this summer. The Gunners have signed six players during a busy transfer window so far, but Mikel Arteta and Andrea Berta still want to add more strength in depth to the squad, with Eze eyed as a potential attacking midfield reinforcement.

The 27-year-old England international scored 14 times and added 11 assists in 43 matches for Oliver Glasner's Palace last season. He scored the winner in the FA Cup final against Manchester City in May and ended the Premier League campaign with five goals in his final five top-flight appearances.

Arteta's side boast a long-term interest in Eze, who has two years left on his contract at Selhurst Park, and there is some hope that Arsenal can get a deal done before the end of the summer.

Eze timeline

Eberechi Eze's £68million release clause at Crystal Palace reportedly expires on Friday, August 15. According to the Evening Standard, Eze's release clause will remain active until that date, when the Premier League season gets underway with champions Liverpool playing host to Bournemouth at Anfield.

Arsenal are believed to be aware of the situation and hold an interest in the 27-year-old, who is said to be happy at Palace but is open to a move elsewhere if the opportunities arises. However, Andrea Berta may have to make space in the squad by selling before Arsenal can move for the England international.

Interest has increased in forward Leandro Trossard, who could be among those to exit the Emirates Stadium. Albert Sambi Lokonga, Karl Hein, Reiss Nelson and Oleksandr Zinchenko are others that might leave, as the Gunners look to free up funds to be able to bring more players through the doors.

Glasner plea

Crystal Palace head coach Oliver Glasner has called on the club's board to not sanction more departures after raising concerns about the size of his squad.

"Even though all the players are still here, we haven't made the most of the transfer window so far," he told Kronen Zeitung during their pre-season tour in Austria.

"I was promised that we would be more active and bring in the new players earlier this year. As of now, I have 17 outfield players. I hope we don't lose any more. If that happens and we get four new ones on deadline day like last year, another false start is possible."

Deal structure

According to Caught Offside earlier this week, Arsenal are prepared to offer Crystal Palace just £30m up front and a further £38m in instalments over the next two years for Eberechi Eze. It was claimed that progress is happening on reaching an agreement, with ongoing discussions over that payment structure.

The outlet cites sources close to the agent industry when saying that the Gunners are leading the race. Arsenal are also reputedly willing to wait for Palace to snap-up a replacement, with the Eagles among they the clubs credited with an interest in Leicester City attacking midfielder Bilal El Khannouss.
