Today, through this news, we are going to tell you how you can identify whether your health policy has a COVID policy cover or not.
Read the policy papers carefully.
The health insurance policy you have, states which diseases are covered for treatment. This is called coverage. You should check your policy papers to see if the word COVID-19, coronavirus, or pandemic is written in it or not. If yes, then your policy covers COVID-19.
Know when the policy was taken.
In the year 2020, the insurance regulatory body of India, IRDAI, ordered all insurance companies to include Corona in their health policy. This means that if you have taken your policy in 2020 or later, then there is a high possibility of including treatment of Kovid-19 in it. But still, it is important to read the policy papers for sure information.
Special policy for Corona
Insurance companies also started special policies during the time of Kovid.
Corona Kavach Policy: This policy was for the treatment of COVID-19 and included hospitalization expenses, medicines, tests, etc.
Corona Rakshak Policy: It used to give a fixed amount if someone was found corona-positive and had to be hospitalized.
If you have taken any of these policies, then it is only for Corona. Its time limit is also limited, like 3.5 months, 6.5 months, or 9.5 months.
Cashless facility or not
Health insurance gives money in two ways:
Cashless claim: If you get treatment in the network hospital of the insurance company, then you do not have to pay money. The insurance company itself pays the hospital. Reimbursement claim: If you do not go to the network hospital, then first you will pay the money yourself and later you can get that money back from the insurance company. It is important to know what facility is there in your policy.
Keep the necessary documents ready.
If you have to undergo treatment for COVID-19 and you want to make an insurance claim, then these documents will be necessary. COVID-19 positive report (RT-PCR), hospital admission and discharge papers, treatment bill, prescription of medicines, and test reports because the insurance company will pay you money only based on these documents.
Talk to the insurance company.
If you are still not able to understand whether your policy has a cover for COVID or not, then call the customer care number of your insurance company or talk to your agent. They will give you the correct information.
