Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that he has urged the Union Finance ministry and Reserve Bank of India to release a special coin to mark the 100th birth anniversary of music maestro Dr Bhupen Hazarika.
Sarma said investment proposals of over Rs 1 lakh crore, which were received during the Advantage Assam summit, will be rolled out by the end of this year.
Sarma on Saturday met Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and invited him to the inaugural function of the year-long birth centenary celebrations of doyen of music Bharat Ratna, Dr. Bhupen Hazarika.
Sarma said that Modi will inaugurate the country's first bio refinery and lay the foundation stone of the Guwahati Ring Road project and the Darrang Medical College and Hospital.
Sarma said that by December this year work worth Rs one lakh Crore will be started in Assam. “Adani group which has committed an investment worth Rs 50,000 Crore during the recently held Advantage Assam summit will soon start the work of aero city. In the last ten days a team from the company twice visited Assam.”
Sarma said Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Assam Bio-Ethanol Plant, which has a production capacity of 49,000 tonnes per annum (KTPA) of ethanol.
Sarma said, "By December this year, work on projects worth over Rs 1 lakh crore, which were announced during the Advantage Assam summit, will start. In no other state where such summits are organised, such speedy implementation is ensured."
He added, "During the trip to attend the birth centenary celebration, the Prime minister will lay the foundation of this Rs 7,500-crore Guwahati ring road, which also includes a bridge over the Brahmaputra between Narengi and Kuruwa," he said.
He said the state government will bear 50 per cent of the expenses for land acquisition for the project, and reimburse the forest royalty and GST to the construction company.
The state government will be spending over Rs 1,000 crore for the ring road project, while the central government has sanctioned Rs 3,000 crore as viability gap, Sarma added.
"Work on the Guwahati aerocity project, announced by the group during the business summit, will commence in October," he added.
Two more projects, a greenfield highway between Guwahati and Silchar, and a tunnel under the Brahmaputra between Numaligarh and Gohpur are also nearing approval, the chief minister added.
