Amit Patel, dealer at Royal Car Zone in Faridabad, said the Hyundai i20 car involved in the Red Fort blast was sold to a customer identified as Amir Rashid, whose ID showed an address in Pulwama. Patel told ANI that the buyers had come through the OLX app, the same platform his dealership uses to sell vehicles.
According to Patel, on October 29, two people contacted the dealership through OLX to see the car. “They liked it, made the payment, and took the car the same day. One of the customers was Amir Rashid, and I am unaware of the second person’s name. The car was registered in the name of Amir Rashid,” he said.
Patel added that the car already had valid insurance, but its pollution under control (PUC) certificate had expired. “The buyers took it to a nearby PUC centre to renew it,” he said.
Delhi Police contacted the dealership within a couple of hours after the blast, took all documents related to the sale, and questioned the staff. Patel told ANI, “That night, a team arrived, and we handed over all the documents and CCTV footage. The police are now investigating.”
Red Ford Eco-sport
Meanwhile, Delhi Police said all police stations, police posts, and border checkpoints in the city have been alerted to look out for a red Ford EcoSport, after investigations revealed that the suspects had another vehicle in addition to the Hyundai i20. Five Delhi Police teams are searching for the car, and police in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana have also been alerted about the vehicle.
