Interestingly, Sussanne had a different memory of their early days. In another memorable moment shared by Sussanne on Koffee With Karan, she recalled Hrithik proposing to her during a coffee date. Hidden at the bottom of her coffee cup was a ring, which symbolized a promise. Without hesitation, she accepted.

After dating for four years, Hrithik and Sussanne decided to marry. Their wedding took place on December 20, 2000, in a ceremony that honored both their families' traditions. Hrithik, who became an instant sensation with his debut in Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai, was already committed to Sussanne when the film released. Interestingly, the traffic signal meeting scene in Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai was said to be inspired by Hrithik’s real-life first glimpse of Sussanne.
