Marathi and Hindi film actress Girija Oak has recently taken the internet by storm after a video of her in a striking blue saree went viral. Social media users, captivated by her charm and effortless style, have been calling her India’s Monica Bellucci, while also drawing comparisons to international stars. But beyond the sudden viral fame, Oak is a seasoned performer with a long-standing career in theatre and cinema.

Viral Fame: The Blue Saree Moment
The clip that sparked the online frenzy comes from a recent interview on the Lallanton YouTube channel, where Oak shared humorous and relatable anecdotes, including a story about her physics lecturer confusing the class with terms like “transitional babes and longitudinal babes,” referring to waves. Netizens were immediately smitten by her elegance in a green-blue saree.

Marathi fans were quick to remind the internet that Oak has been a prominent face in regional cinema for years. Speaking to Hindustan Times, Oak said, “I am amused! My phone started buzzing like crazy on Sunday evening. I was in rehearsals for my play and couldn't take calls. Suddenly, all my friends were messaging me, ‘Do you know what's happening on X?’” She added, “One sent me a post debating if it was (actor) Priya Bapat or me! Then my devar told me some cheap handles picked up my pictures and there was a whole ‘bhabhi lover’ scene happening. Some pages sexualised me. But Marathi fans said, ‘You've only just discovered her! We've known her for years.’”
