Mumbai: In a tragic bike accident, two men died on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway on Saturday. The police have taken action against careless driving. The victims, Ashok Dattu Handva (25) and his friend Paras Sunil Vartha (18), were from Khandiwale in Palghar. They were riding to Vasai to attend a wedding when the accident happened, according to Hindustan Times report.
According to Mandvi police, the accident happened around 8:40 PM on the southbound side of the highway. Handva was riding fast and lost control of the bike, hitting a barricade. Both he and Vartha were badly injured.
People passing by called the police, who quickly rushed to the spot and took the men to Sanjivani Hospital in Virar. Both victims were declared dead after reaching the Hospital.
The police said they have filed a case under Section 106 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita for causing death by negligence. They will wait for a report from the RTO to check if the bike had any issues. If not, they will close the case, as per report.

An accident took place on May 10 at the BARC residential complex in Boisar, near the Tarapur Atomic Power Station, resulting in the death of a 73-year-old woman and leaving her husband critically injured. The incident occurred when Dr. R. K. Das, a physician at TAPS Hospital, reportedly lost control of his car and struck the couple as they were leaving the hospital following a routine check-up.
Eyewitnesses stated that the car dragged the couple for approximately 10 to 15 feet. The deceased has been identified as Chhayalata Vishwanath Arekar. Her husband, who suffered serious injuries, is currently receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.
