Mumbai: Mumbai and it's metropolitan regions are expected to get a break from heavy rains from July 10 onwards as the warning for heavy rainfall due to cyclonic air circulation issued by the weather department ends on July 9. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) however has placed Mumbai, Thane and Palghar under Yellow Alert for July 9 and Raigad under Orange Alert.
From July 10 onwards no weather warning is issued and the region will experience regular monsoon activity of light to moderate rains. With the early arrival of monsoon, Mumbai crossed the average June rainfall this year.
The metropolis has already received 28% of the average seasonal rainfall. As of July 8 morning, Mumbai City has recieved 574 mm rainfall, the eastern suburbs have received 661 mm rainfall and the western suburbs have received 600 mm rainfall.
With Mumbai and neighbouring districts witnessing incessant moderate to heavy downpour for the last two weeks, including the catchment areas, the water levels in the lakes supplying water to Mumbai are filled over 71%.

As of July 8 morning, the seven lakes supplying water to Mumbai has reached 71.18% of its total capacity, which last year on the same day was only 18%.
The total capacity of seven lakes is 14,47,363 million litres and as of July 8 there are filled to 10,30,218 million litres.

Middle Vaitarna - 93.47%
Modak Sagar- 94.82%
Bhatsa- 60.93%
Vihar- 47.68%
Tansa- 76.40%
Tulsi - 46.97%
