Barabanki News: In a highly unfortunate incident, 12-year-old class student Akhil Pratap Singh died in mysterious circumstances at St. Anthony's School, Barabanki, on Tuesday—the day of the school reopening following summer vacations. The sudden demise has cast a cloud of sadness over the locality.

Akhil, a Class 7 student and a resident of Gheri village, Fatehpur Tehsil, was with his father, Jitendra Pratap Singh, who had brought him to the school in the morning. Eyewitnesses state that he alighted from the car holding his bag and was walking towards the school gate. He collapsed a few steps away without any warning.

He was taken to Awadh Children's Hospital, and since his condition did not improve, he was shifted to Chandan Hospital in Lucknow, where the doctors certified him dead. Ironically, Akhil had no known health issues and was not on any medication. His father assured that he was perfectly healthy just hours ago.

Though a silent heart attack has been reportedly indicated in the collapse by some reports, the exact cause cannot be verified. Doctors such as Dr. Rajesh Kushwaha of the District Hospital said that though uncommon, the internal complications in children were being seen more often and need thorough investigation.

In great sorrow, the family decided to conduct Akhil's last rites without a post-mortem. The mother is reported to be in a state of extreme shock.

A one-day mourning holiday was declared by St. Anthony's School. The residents, students, and teachers are still shocked at the tragedy.

It has raised anew the issue of covert health ailments in children and the necessity of periodic medical checkups—even for individuals who seem totally well.
