Cinematographer Pratik Shah recently came under scrutiny after multiple allegations of inappropriate behaviour surfaced online. The controversy began when filmmaker Abhinav Singh took to Instagram, accusing Pratik of abuse and indirectly describing him as 'highly manipulative,' 'emotionally abusive,' and labeling him a 'predator.' Now, a 2015 blog post by Pratik's ex-girlfriend has gone viral, in which she made shocking allegations of physical abuse and sexual assault.
However, she did not mention Pratik's name in the blog. She stated that she chose to speak up again because 'people need to know the truth.' Though her identity was also not disclosed, she recounted how she was initially drawn to Pratik's shy and reserved nature when they first met. Their early dates felt magical, she described feeling butterflies in her stomach and loved how he took care of her. But things began to change when emotional manipulation crept in. The first major red flag emerged when he had a screaming outburst after she went out with her friends without informing him.

She said, "That summer, he asked me for my Gmail and Facebook passwords, and in return gave me his. I remember the rage that flew through him when he saw that I had flirted with a guy over Facebook in one conversation, or 'poked' a guy friend on social media. I remember him screaming in my face that he would kill himself. I felt so horrible. Like I didn’t deserve him. In the next year, he would repeat the line, 'Most guys would have left after what you did, but I didn’t.'"
She further shared that during their two-year relationship, she was unaware that he had been cheating on her with a mutual friend. Recalling the moment she confronted him about the affair, she alleged that he pushed her into a shelf. " I should've reported it then, when the neighbors called the police. I didn’t. But what was by far the worst was his inability to understand the concept of 'No,'" she added.
She shared that Pratik did not grow up in a home where the word 'no' held any real weight, and for him, 'no' meant nothing. Recalling a shocking incident from her birthday weekend, she said that Pratik had gotten so drunk he was nearly falling asleep. It was just the three of them, her, Pratik, and her friend Cody. She told both of them that she was going to the bathroom, and without her realising it, Pratik followed her inside
"Never, in a million years, would I have thought I would be a 'survivor of abuse.' Never would I have thought he was 'that type of guy.' I remember thinking back on the situation months later and saying to myself, 'That would have been considered rape if he wasn’t my boyfriend,'" she concluded.
