Rory McIlroy told Team USA fans to "shut the f*** up" as he was jeered on the fairways of Bethpage Black.
The Northern Irishman was setting up to find the green from the fairway, when a crowd member let out a braveheart-style roar of "freedom" to put him off his game.
Evidently vexed by the attempt to frustrate him in an already high-pressure game, McIlroy then stepped away from his ball to tell the crowd: "Guys, shut the f*** up."
Thankfully, McIlroy managed to regain his composure, finding the green for Tommy Fleetwood, before the Englishman tapped in to secure a 3&2 win over Harris English and Collin Morikawa for Team Europe.

It comes as Europe currently lead the Ryder Cup 5½-3½, after Bryson DeChambeau and Cam Young secured their own 4&2 win over Matt Fitzpatrick and Ludvig Aberg in the opening match of the foursomes.
Speaking about his partnership with Fleetwood with Sky Sports after the win, Fleetwood said: "Well it's Rory McIlroy. I can play from a lot of the places where he hits it, and we loved getting the chance to play together in Rome.
"Our games match really nicely, we're very close off the course. Like Rory has already said, our families are really close.
"I'm just the lucky one that gets to play alongside Rory McIlroy in the foursomes, and I'll take that any day."
Meanwhile, when asked about the mental fortitude needed to play in an away Ryder Cup, McIlroy added: "Yeah you do. You've got to really just focus on the task at hand.
"I think in the team format, foursomes, four-ball, you can stick together with your partner and it makes it a bit easier. And look, what Tommy just said, the feeling is absolutely mutual.
"It's an absolute pleasure to play alongside him. We had a great time in Rome and we've been able to back that up with two great wins here. And excited with where our team is, and we've got to keep the foot down."
