Manchester United flop Antony has claimed that he held talks with Bayern Munich before returning to Real Betis. The Brazilian finally completed a permanent move away from Old Trafford on deadline day.
Betis eventually paid £21m to sign him after months of drawn-out negotiations. And while he eventually got his wish of a return to Betis, it appears that Antony could have gone elsewhere.
He has suggested that Bayern Munich were interested in taking him to the Allianz Arena but he was only interested in a move back to Spain. Speaking to El Partidazo, Antony said: "I spoke with Bayern Munich.
“I don't know if it was [a] €7 million [offer], but I said I had Betis's word and that it was 95% certain and that I would respect my word. I feel comfortable making this decision because I'm very happy here. More than five teams called me."
Antony will hope that he enjoys even more success with Betis during his second spell with the club. The 25-year-old scored nine goals and notched five assists in just half a season in Andalucia.

Speaking at his unveiling as a permanent Betis player, Antony broke down in tears. He said: "[Making the transfer happen] was very hard, but we're here now. I can't wait to wear the Betis shirt again. I can only thank everyone who made it possible.”
He added: "What a difference! Seville is more beautiful than Manchester. I'm finally here. I spent more than 40 days in a hotel; it was very hard, but everyone knew I wanted to return to Betis. Now with more time, there are so many things to do and achieve.
“I had trouble sleeping after seeing so much love from the Betis fans; there were people waiting at my house at 2 in the morning."

"Being cared about is very important to me, it is something money can't buy. Here, I have had good feelings and felt lots of affection. It was always my first choice, and that's why I waited until the last day to return to Betis. Now I'm here and happy in a city and at a club that I love."
While Bayern failed in their attempts to sign Antony, they still had an eye-catching window. The German giants completed a move for Liverpool wideman Luis Diaz earlier this summer.
They also signed Nicolas Jackson on loan from Chelsea despite late drama over his future. The striker had flown to Germany to complete his move only for Chelsea to recall him following Liam Delap’s injury. But a deal was eventually agreed upon.
