Since joining Arsenal in March, Andrea Berta has been working tirelessly to secure new signings for Mikel Arteta. His immediate impact on negotiations and transactions was evident in the £63.7million acquisition of Viktor Gyokeres. Berta strongly advocated for the Swedish striker, who is set to lead the attack at Old Trafford in next Sunday's Premier League opener.
While there has been progress on several new contracts, attention is now shifting to player departures in the final weeks of the transfer window. This is where Berta's expertise as an Italian chief will truly shine. So far, Arsenal have only raised £8.57m from player sales after selling Nuno Tavares and Marquinhos. However, a number of other players are available, and there is a strong desire to move these fringe stars before the 1st September deadline.
Fulham continue to negotiate a deal for Reiss Nelson following his loan spell at Craven Cottage last season. The winger, who returned to Arsenal training in La Manga after undergoing hamstring surgery in February, also has interest from other Premier League clubs.
Fulham are looking to arrange an initial loan, but Arsenal prefer a permanent deal, despite Nelson impressing on their pre-season tour of Asia.
Then there's Fabio Vieira, a £34.7m signing from Porto in the summer of 2022, who is yet to make his mark at the Emirates. Stuttgart are in ongoing talks with Arsenal over a permanent deal, with the Gunners seeking a sum of up to £17.35m (€20m).
Vieira is free to leave and has yet to make a pre-season appearance, having been granted an extended break following his participation in the Club World Cup with Porto.
Goalkeeper Karl Hein is drawing attention from Levante and Rangers, and Arsenal are eager to finalise a sale. The Finnish international signed a contract extension last summer before being loaned out to Real Valladolid, but now Arsenal are inviting offers.
Oleksandr Zinchenko is also available for transfer, although his salary could pose a problem. The north London club are keen to avoid losing the Ukrainian defender on a free transfer in 2026, as he's now in the final year of his current contract.
Arsenal have also found it difficult to find buyers for Albert Sambi Lokonga following his loan stint at Sevilla, and the Belgian has remained an unused substitute throughout pre-season.
Gabriel Jesus has piqued interest from Brazil, but he is currently focusing on his recovery following knee surgery in January.
Porto also made a bid for defender Jakub Kiwior, but Arsenal dismissed it as they gradually reintegrate centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes into the squad after his hamstring surgery last season.
Kiwior is also on Juventus' radar, but unless he expresses a desire to leave, Arteta would be more than content to retain the Polish player.
