Charlie Dimmock shot back at her co-star after he made a playful jibe about her ideas for a garden transformation. The presenter, 59, has fronted Garden Rescue since 2016, which follows a team as they attempt to redesign neglected outdoor spaces. During Tuesday's (November 4) edition of the BBC programme, Charlie and her co-host Lee Burkhill headed to Beeston to transform Judith's empty new-build garden into a Scandinavian inspired space with a country cottage twist.
The presenters had everything to work with, as Judith's outdoor space she described as a "blank canvas" was nothing but an empty lawn with stark fencing. Working with a £5,500 budget, Charlie and Lee each pitched their ideas for transforming the garden. After careful consideration, Judith chose Lee's design, feeling it best reflected her style. With her design not chosen, Charlie assisted the team in bringing Lee's ideas to life.
Approaching her co-star, Charlie quipped: "Ah! Well done, Lee. Judith obviously loved your design. A smorgasbord of ideas you had there."
Lee laughed, noting that Charlie's concept "wasn't too dissimilar" from his own, but couldn't resist slipping in a cheeky jab.
"It was very modern for you," he teased.
Charlie hit back: "What do you mean by that you cheeky little thing?!"
Lee quipped: "All those clean lines, very Scandi."
The duo made their way to Judith's garden as the transformation got underway. "It's all about slick, cool, modern calm today," Lee told his co-star.
Charlie agreed, replying: "Yeah, cos the Scandi vibe's all about keeping it simple but do it really well."
Sharing his plans for Charlie, Lee explained that he was putting her in charge of the nook of the garden, which he described as the "secret, hidden, relaxing bit".
Charlie clarified whether this space was intended for Judith and her friends, who meet up every Friday for 'Fizz Club'. When Lee confirmed her suspicions, the former Ground Force host quipped: "Do I get bottles of prosecco in there?"
Lee teased: "There may be a reward at the end of the day if you work hard enough, Charlie."
The BBC duo watched and aided as the team completely transformed Judith's garden, which now boasts a sleek porcelain path and a timber catwalk.
The garden was brought to life with cottage-style planting beds, including the roses Judith had requested. Adding a modern twist, the design also featured Scandi-inspired grey, angular arches and a large raised deck topped with a pergola.
In the far corner sat the secret nook, complete with cosy seating and screening. As Judith stepped into her transformed garden, she gasped, "Oh my God! It's extraordinary."
Struggling to hold back the tears, she added: "It's absolutely perfect."
