Emma Raducanu got straight back to work after her statement 62-minute victory at the US Open, heading to the practice court with new coach, Francisco Roig. The British No. 1 dispatched Japanese qualifier Ena Shibahara 6-1 6-2 to earn her first match win in Flushing Meadows since she lifted the trophy in 2021.

But the former champion still wasn't satisfied, and said she wanted to "tidy things up" after earning her fastest victory at a Grand Slam. Less than two hours after she reached the second round, Raducanu and Roig were back on the court working on her game.

The world No. 36 completed her media commitments before getting back to training, and made it clear that she didn't want to take her foot off the gas.

"I think the match was taxing mentally to stay locked in but I wouldn't say physically it was the longest match so I feel like I can tidy up a few things," Raducanu told Sky Sports after putting her name down for a practice court.

"It's just something that I've been doing over the last few weeks, spending time on the practice court, it won't be very physical, but just to correct a few things, it's something that I want to do, and hopefully it can help me."

The US Open started on Sunday for the first time this year, and Raducanu opened play on the Louis Armstrong Stadium. After beating Shibahara, she told the crowd that she wanted to visit some galleries during her time in New York.

Raducanu is now set to enjoy two days off before her second-round match, but she's made it clear that she won't spend the whole time relaxing.

She added: "I don't know when I'll play, the Sunday start has thrown me a bit. Just hit every gallery in New York! I mean, I might do a little, like, ranking of them. I'm excited to just have some time, but we'll probably end up practising, to be honest."

The 2021 champion hit with her friend and fellow British star Fran Jones, who qualified for the main draw and will play her own opening match on Tuesday, before getting down to work with Roig.

The Spanish tennis coach previously spent years working alongside Rafael Nadal, and joined Raducanu's team ahead of the Cincinnati Open.

And the British No. 1 has been busy adding new faces to her camp, as travelling chiropractor Dr Jerome Poupel was in her box on Sunday. Poupel has worked with F1 drivers, rugby players, and even race horses.

And Raducanu will be hoping he can help her get over the hurdles she's faced in Flushing Meadows in recent years. She's already won her first match here since 2021, and she said: "It's extremely special to come through that.

"I knew I was playing pretty well, I was practising well, but to kind of get that barrier out of your head, it is a relief and now I'm just excited to get back on the practice court and do my best to prepare for the next round."
