Drivers on the M4 are stuck in long queues as emergency repairs take place, shutting the road in both directions. The busy motorway is closed in Wales between J38 at Margam and J37 at Pyle in the eastbound direction. The road was closed just after midnight, with the westbound direction at J37 also closing shortly after 2.30pm.
It is not currently known when this section of the M4 will reopen, and traffic is being diverted to the A48 at Pyle. A South Wales Police spokesperson said: "The closure will remain in place during the daylight hours, there is no known timescale for the re-opening of the carriageway. Please avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible. We're grateful for your patience."
