Saturday Kitchen host Matt Tebbutt had some big news to share with viewers.
The BBC show returned to screens on Saturday morning (September 6) with Matt back at the helm. Joining Matt on the programme were chefs Mike Reid and Samin Nosrat.
Comedian Alan Davis also made an appearance, and drinks expert Helen McGinn was on hand too, to find the perfect wines to pair with the studio dishes.
However, just minutes into the show, Matt issued an exciting update with fans and his co-stars. Helen said: "Is there anything you'd like to share with the group?" Matt replied: "Yes I can confirm, this is quite embarrassing, not embarrassing, I'm very excited."
He added: "I'm going to be the new judge on MasterChef: The Professionals!" The studio cheered with applause over Matt's news.
Comedian Alan then quipped: "You'll be cancelled by half past," followed by laughter from his co-stars.
Matt explained more: "Yeah I'm doing it with Monica and Marcus. It's going to be great fun! I'm very excited and I promise I won't mess it up for anyone who is wondering."
Helen: "I mean congratulations and everything, but you're not leaving here?" Addressing his future on the show, Matt said: "No I'm holding onto this for as long as I can until they say otherwise."
On the upcoming 18th series of MasterChef: The Professionals, Matt will appear alongside Marcus Wareing and Monica Galetti.
The three judges will also be joined by a variety of exciting guest judges in the first stage of the competition. With their own experience and food backgrounds helping to oversee the Skills Tests, the guest judge in each Heat will add another element of surprise for the professional chefs walking through the MasterChef kitchen doors for the very first time.
Talking about his new gig on MasterChef: The Professionals, Matt said: "It's an absolute honour to be working alongside these two titans of the food world. Their knowledge and uncompromising attitude is now the stuff of legend and I look forward to them taking me under their wing and seeing the chefs get off to a flying start in the competition!"
