If you're reading this, you have likely just finished the finale of The Summer I Turned Pretty, and you are likely yearning for more. Well, you are in luck as the hit Prime Video adaptation of Jenny Han's beloved trilogy has just announced that a follow-up film is on the way. The series has been serving up themes of coming-of-age, nostalgia, and heartbreak throughout its entirety, but the final few episodes pushed main character Belly into adulthood, forcing her to make choices about love, loyalty, and family that brought her journey full circle.

Here is a breakdown of the pivotal moments in the final episode - and why they matter so much for Belly, Conrad, and Jeremiah. After three seasons of flip-flopping, Belly finally follows her heart and chooses Conrad in a decision that honours her long, complicated history with the elder Fisher brother. For fans of Jenny Han's novels, it is a truthful resolution.

Conrad takes a leap of faith and shows up unannounced to see Belly for her birthday. As he and Belly finally reconcile, warming up to each other as the day goes on, we see glimmers of their previous love affair.

The two brothers have been at loggerheads over Belly, but the final episode depicts a sense of growth and healing. We see Jermiah thriving in his new culinary pursuits, and as a romance blossoms between him and Denise - a new character introduced in season three - we learn that he has finally moved on.

The final season emphasises how Susannah's death is still felt and has reshaped the family dynamics. By finally making her decision and choosing Conrad, Belly demonstrates how far she has come. No longer caught between fantasy and reality, this moment shows that Belly has grown and is willing to accept the consequences.

The final offers closure for fans of the series, and it closes with Belly and Conrad returning to Cousins, where it all began.

But with an upcoming movie now announced, the love story is not over. Jenny Han's announcement arrived during a red-carpet celebration for the season 3 finale in none other than Paris itself.

According to a press release from Prime Video, the feature film will be written and directed by Han herself and will once and for all conclude The Summer I Turned Pretty saga. Plot details are being kept hush, but in an official statement, Han has teased that "there is another big milestone left in Belly's journey." Does this mean there is another wedding on the way?

In her statement, Han added: "I thought only a movie could give [the conclusion] its proper due. I'm so grateful to Prime Video for continuing to support my vision for this story and for making it possible to share this final chapter with the fans."

It looks like we'll always have Cousins in the summer.

The Summer I Turned Pretty is available to stream now on Prime Video.
