Washington Black cast in full as epic period drama welcomes Vera and Paradise stars

Washington Black has just arrived onDisney Plus and Hulu and the historical adventure drama is based on an inspirational book of the same name.

Set in Barbados and Nova Scotia in the early 1800's, Washington Black, which arrived on July 23, follows a young boy who is forced to run away from his home on a sugar plantation following a tragic death.

He comes under the care of Medwin Harris, a fascinating man who himself had a traumatic childhood as a Black refugee in Nova Scotia.

The eight-episode series was executive produced by Sterling K. Brown, who also stars in the show as Medwin Harris.

Washington Black - Ernest Kingsley Jr

George Washington 'Wash' Black is the young boy who is forced to flee his home in Barbados and he is played by Ernest Kingsley Jr.

The stage and TV star recently played Kai'ckul in The Sandman, and starred in the third series of War of the Worlds.

Christopher 'Titch' Wilde - Tom Ellis

Titch is featured in the show's trailer and he sees a lot of potential in Wash, agreeing to give him a chance to help out with his work.

He is played by Tom Ellis, a 46-year-old Welsh actor known for his roles in Miranda, Lucifer and The Flash.

The father-of-four married American screenwriter Meaghan Oppenheimer in 2019.

Medwin Harris - Sterling K Brown

Medwin takes Wash under his wing and he is played by Sterling K Brown.

The 49-year-old American actor is known for his roles in Paradise, This Is Us and The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story.

The father-of-two is married to actress Ryan Michelle Bathe.

Tanna Goff - Iola Evans

Tanna is played by Iola Evans, a British actress known for starring in Choose or Die and Out of Darkness.

In 2020 she had a guest role in the ITV hit series Vera, playing Phoebe Dwyer.

Erasmus Wilde - Julian Rhind-Tutt

Erasmus is played by Julian Rhind-Tutt, a 58-year-old English actor known for playing Dr Mac Macartney in Green Wing.

He is married to Natasa Zajc, a Slovenian make-up artist and yoga instructor.

Willard - Billy Boyd

Billy Boyd is a 56-year-old Scottish actor and musician who fans will recognise as Pippin Took in The Lord of the Rings film trilogy.
