Disney's Freaky Friday is set to return to our screens tomorrow (August 8), promising even more body-swapping mayhem.
The family comedy, which debuted in August 2003, featured Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis as a mother-daughter duo who switch bodies and experience each other's lives.
The pair will reunite for the sequel,Freakier Friday, which introduces additional family members ensnared by the enchantment that forces them to view life from each other's perspective.
Scheduled for release on August 8, the sequel also welcomes back Mark Harmon and Chad Michael Murray among others.
Let's catch up with what the cast has been up to since their last joint silver screen appearance, reports the Mirror.
Before portraying Anna at just 17, Lindsay Lohan was already a recognised face in Hollywood, having starred in popular films like The Parent Trap and Life Size.
Her portrayal of the defiant musical teenager won her the Breakthrough Performance award at the 2004 MTV Movie Awards, catapulting her career and establishing her as an icon of 00s teen comedies with roles in Mean Girls, Just My Luck, and Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen.
However, like many young stars, Lindsay fell into the traps of early fame, with her twenties marred more by legal troubles than film roles at times.
After years of tabloid headlines and stints in rehab centres, Lindsay found peace following her relocation to Dubai in 2014.
"Moving here was a fresh start," she told Emirates Woman in 2018. "You hear more about real current events rather than celebrity gossip, which I really appreciate," she added.
The 39 year old star made her comeback to television with Netflix's 2022 Christmas offering, Falling for Christmas, before taking on the romantic comedy Irish Wish in 2024. She also made a brief appearance in the cinematic adaptation of the Mean Girls musical during the same year.
Freakier Friday signals Lohan's eagerly awaited return to cinema screens.
While Jamie Lee Curtis seemed perfectly suited to play Anna's widowed therapist mother, she almost didn't land the role.
Producers had initially approached Jodie Foster, who had played Annabel in the 1976 original, but she declined the opportunity. Jamie stepped in when Annette Bening pulled out for unknown reasons just four days before filming was due to begin.
As a Golden Globe winner, the Halloween icon was already the biggest star attached to the Freaky Friday project when it hit cinemas in 2003. Merely three years after the film's premiere, at 66, she told Access Hollywood that she had "closed the book" on her acting career to focus on her family life.
Yet, Jamie Lee Curtis's break from the silver screen was brief; by June 2007, she dazzled audiences once more in Disney's Beverly Hills Chihuahua.
In a triumphant return to her legendary role as Laurie Strode, Jamie starred in the 2018 horror sequel Halloween, smashing box office records. The movie not only became the franchise's highest earner but also set a new benchmark for the most successful opening weekend starring a lead actress over 55.
Jamie's illustrious career has continued to soar, culminating in her winning the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in 2023 for her role in Everything Everywhere All at Once. Additionally, she continues to enchant viewers as Donna Berzatto in FX's acclaimed series, The Bear.
Freaky Friday served as the launchpad for Chad Michael Murray, establishing him as the quintessential teen heartthrob of the 2000s.
That same year, he secured his star-making turn as Lucas Scott in the hit WB TV show One Tree Hill. Beyond his on-screen endeavours in films like A Cinderella Story and House of Wax with Paris Hilton, Chad's off-screen life has been equally eventful, marked by personal highs and lows.
In 2005, he tied the knot with his One Tree Hill co-star Sophia Bush, having met on the set of the popular teen drama. Yet, their union was fleeting, and they went their separate ways within the year, finalising their divorce in December 2006.
Chad then found love with Kenzie Dalton, a former Miss Teen USA contestant. The couple stayed engaged for seven years before calling it quits in August 2013.
He didn't wait long to mix work with romance again, as in 2014 he started seeing Sarah Roemer, his colleague from The Chosen.
This time around, Chad's romantic life flourished; he and Sarah are happily married with two kids. He's also been seen on Netflix in Mother of the Bride and The Merry Gentlemen.

Mark Harmon brought his star quality to the role of Ryan, Anna's less-than-welcome future stepfather, in Freaky Friday.
The ex-American football quarterback had been lauded as "Sexiest Man Alive" by People magazine back in 1986. And just before Freaky Friday hit the screens, he snagged an Emmy nomination for his role as Secret Service agent Simon Donovan in The West Wing in 2002.
In the two decades since Freaky Friday graced the big screen, Mark Harmon seems to have found the secret to eternal youth. The 73-year-old actor, who played Jamie Lee Curtis's love interest, looks remarkably similar to his younger self.
These days, he's best known for his leading role as Leroy Jethro Gibbs in the hit TV series NCIS.
Christina Vidal stepped into the role of Maddie, Anna's bandmate, after Kelly Osbourne had to withdraw due to her mother Sharon Osbourne's cancer diagnosis.
Vidal left a lasting impression with her performance of Take Me Away, which won over audiences. Post-Freaky Friday, she continued to build a successful television career, landing roles in Blue Bloods, Training Day, and more recently, ABC's United We Fall.
Ryan Malgarini was just a lad of 11 when he portrayed Anna's pesky younger brother, Harry. A year after his Freaky Friday debut, he worked alongside Tom Hanks in an experimental film aimed at advancing "performance capture" technology for The Polar Express.
Now 33, the American actor has kept up his acting career, appearing in TV shows such as Fresh off the Boat, Malcolm in the Middle, Mike and Molly, and Bones.

After her role as Anna's rival Stacey in Freaky Friday, Julie Gonzalo has impressively reunited with several of her co-stars in later projects.
In 2004, she reprised her mean girl persona alongside Chad Michael Murray and Hilary Duff in A Cinderella Story, and within the same year, played Jamie Lee Curtis' daughter in the cherished festive film Christmas with the Kranks.
The Argentine-American actress has since established a successful career as a leading lady in Hallmark television films and notably starred in CBS superhero series Supergirl.
Following his portrayal of the disagreeable teacher Mr. Bates in Freaky Friday, Stephen Tobolowsky appears to have been typecast, with most of his subsequent roles being high school teachers or doctors.
His credits include playing Principal Earl Ball in The Goldbergs, Professor Peter Sheffield in Community, and Principal James Merrow in The New Adventures of Old Christine, demonstrating his on-screen scholarly prowess.
Beyond the world of fictional schools, Tobolowsky also hosts a podcast. In 2009, he launched The Tobolowsky Files, where he shares stories reminiscent of his film, Stephen Tobolowsky's Birthday Party.
Netflix viewers may have recognised the noughties star in Netflix's Nobody Wants This, portraying Rabbi Cohen.
