Jaipur: Three friends aged between 19 and 25 years were killed, while three others were injured when their car collided with a loading tempo near Suratgarh in Sriganganagar district Saturday night. The mishap occurred on the Sriganganagar-Bikaner National Highway-62, about 7km from Suratgarh, leaving the front portion of the car completely mangled. Following the collision, some victims were thrown out of the vehicle and sustained severe head injuries.
The deceased were identified as Aryan Jat (19), Rohtash Jat (25), and Pawan Kumar (20), all residents of nearby villages. The injured were Hemant (21), Abhishek (30), and Rajveer (22). Hemant and Abhishek, who were travelling in the car, were first taken to the govt hospital in Suratgarh and later referred to a govt hospital in Sriganganagar due to their critical condition. Rajveer, a passenger in the loading tempo, sustained minor injuries and was discharged after first aid.
Police said Aryan informed his family that he was going to Suratgarh with friends for a short while and would return soon. The group set out for Suratgarh in a car owned by Abhishek. They were returning home when the accident happened. About seven kilometres before Suratgarh, near the Maujgarh village bus stand, a loading tempo coming from the opposite direction collided with their car. Police added that the tempo driver fled the scene immediately after the crash, while Rajveer, who was sitting on the passenger side, received injuries.
A case has been registered against the tempo driver, and the bodies were handed over to their families after post-mortem examinations. Aryan, a first-year undergraduate student at a college in Suratgarh, was the only son in his family. His father is a farmer and his mother is a homemaker. Rohtash completed his Bachelor of Arts degree and was pursuing a Bachelor of Physical Education course from a college in Punjab. His family is also engaged in farming.
