Jaipur: Heatwave aggravated in the state Monday, with most places recording maximum temperatures above normal. Barmer was the hottest with a maximum of 46.4 degrees Celsius. Jaisalmer recorded 46.2 degrees Celsius, which was the highest ever maximum temperature for April at this place since April 2018, when 46.1 degrees Celsius was recorded.
Attributing the continued rise in mercury to active northerly winds and vanishing of western disturbances, the Met office here said prevailing heatwave conditions will continue Tuesday and Wednesday. However, from Thursday, many places in Jaipur, Ajmer, and Bharatpur divisions are likely to get rainfall and hailstorm.
People in Jaipur woke up to a comparatively warm morning when a minimum temperature of 26.2 degrees Celsius was recorded. It was followed by a scorching afternoon when a maximum temperature of 42 degrees Celsius was recorded. In the afternoon, roads were empty as people remained confined to their homes and offices.
Barmer and Jaisalmer were followed by Phalodi, where a maximum temperature of 45.2 degrees Celsius was recorded, Kota 44.6, Jodhpur 44.4, Sriganganagar 43.8, Jalore, Bikaner, and Pilani 43.4 degrees Celsius each, Bhilwara 43.2, Alwar 42.2, Udaipur 42.1, Ajmer 41.8, Nagaur 41.5, and 41.1 degrees at Anta and Dungarpur.
