It has been months, but the Luka Doncic trade is still making headlines for different reasons. In a video recently surfaced on X, Houston Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta shared that he recently had a chat with President Donald Trump , as they have discussed many things, including the NBA shocker Luka Doncic trade. However, his view on the trade was not positive as he called it “dumba**.”

Houston Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta revealed having a conversation with Donald Trump

At a Houston Cougars season celebration, Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta shared that he recently had a chance to talk to President Trump at the Oval Office alongside the Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni.

"I was in the White House in the Oval Office, with the Prime Minister of Italy and the President last Thursday,” the $10.7 billion rich (per Forbes) Fertitta said.

Fertitta went on to share that he discussed about the Cougars and the Luka Doncic trade. “And we talked about the Houston Cougars, I promise you, for at least a minute and a half. And then we talked about that dumbass Luka Doncic trade."

It appears that Fertitta slammed the trade and the Mavericks for the secret and rushed decision to let go of Doncic from the team. Regardless, it was a headline grabber, creating unrest among Dallas Mavericks fans.

General manager of the Mavericks, Nico Harrison , has been a constant target of criticism following the trade. He even received death threats while a “Fire Nico” movement showed the utter dissatisfaction of fans.

The emotional toll was visible in Doncic’s reaction, which included throwing his phone in anger. In an interview with ESPN’s Malika Andrews, Doncic shared the moment he learned of the trade, revealing that he was so upset that he cracked his phone. “Yeah, it still works,” he said. Despite the damage, Doncic kept the phone, perhaps as a keepsake of his feelings in that moment of shock.

"Is this April 1?" Doncic asked as he described his feelings as “sadness, mostly,” revealing that the shock left him heartbroken. The trade came as a surprise, especially considering his close bond with Dallas and its fans, making it even harder to digest. “I felt like my heart was broken, honestly,” he admitted.

“This is sad, the way he’s talking right now. I never say anything bad about him, and I just want to move on. The fans, my ex-teammates, I’ll always keep at heart. It’s time for me to move on from there.”

He went on to put on a memorable performance, scoring 45 points in a 112-97 Lakers victory, marking the beginning of his new chapter with Los Angeles.
