NEW DELHI: The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) revealed the five-member panel involved in the probe of the Ahmedabad plane crash , which claimed 260 lives.
The panel submitted its 15-page preliminary report on Saturday, which revealed that the fuel control switch transitioned from ‘Run’ to ‘Cutoff’ and a MAYDAY call was issued just two minutes after take-off.
The AAIB said all on-site work at the Air India crash site, including drone mapping, has been completed, and the wreckage moved to a secure facility for further analysis. A team of domain experts—comprising experienced pilots, engineers, flight recorder analysts, aviation doctors, and psychologists—has been brought in to assist with the ongoing investigation.

Sanjay Kumar Singh
Singh, a 56-year-old director at the AAIB, has over 15 years of expertise in aviation safety and crash investigation. He has led probes into 15 major accidents or serious incidents and has supervised the classification of more than 300 reported aviation occurrences.
Jasbir Singh Larhga
While Singh has been appointed as investigator-in-charge, bureau’s deputy director Larhga as the Chief Investigator, a seasoned investigator with over a decade at the AAIB. He has been part of several major aviation probes, including the 2020 Kozhikode Air India Express crash. His extensive experience also includes previous roles at the directorate general of civil aviation (DGCA), Pawan Hans, and Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL).
Vipin Venu Varakoth
He is currently serving as assistant director of air safety at the DGCA, and has more than 15 years of experience with the aviation regulator. As per his LinkedIn profile, he previously held the role of air safety officer, prior to his current position.
Veeraragavan K
Veeraragavan, is also an assistant director of air safety at DGCA Mumbai for nearly four years, he earlier served as an air safety officer in Delhi for nine years. According to his LinkedIn profile, he also briefly worked as an analysis engineer at TCS in Chennai.
Vaishnav Vijayakumar
He too is currently serving as an air safety officer at the DGCA, has been involved in several aircraft accident and incident investigations.
