President Donald Trump said his second term is different from the first one, as now he has both the country and the world to run. "The first time, I had two things to do -- run the country and survive; I had all these crroked guys," he said in an interview with The Atlantic published Monday. "And the second time, I run the country and the world," he added. "I'm having a lot of fun, considering what I do ... You know, what I do is such serious stuff."
The interview comes as Trump is going to complete the first 100 days in his second term -- with his approval ratings falling abysmally. After he gave an interview to TIME, he agreed to sit down with The Atlantic which exposed the major SignalGate of his defence department -- that his defense secretary leaked the Yemen war plan on a Signal group which had Atlantic journalist, editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg. Goldberg was also present during the interview.
"I am doing this interview out of curiosity, and as a competition with myself, just to see if it's possible for The Atlantic to be 'truthful,'" Trump said in a Truth Social post last week ahead of the sitdown.
Trump on potential 2028 run
With his organization selling Trump 2028 hats and T-shirts, Trump said a third term would be a big shattering. "Well, maybe I'm just trying to shatter." "It's not something that I'm looking to do. And I think it would be a very hard thing to do," he said.
Trump says the billionaire class has a higher level of respect for him now
Donald Trump noted that this term he is getting the respect of the billionaire class a lot more. “It’s just a higher level of respect. I don’t know,” Trump said. “Maybe they didn’t know me at the beginning, and they know me now.”
On the Democratic Party
“I think that the Democrats have lost their confidence in the truest sense,” Trump said. “I don’t think they know what they’re doing. I think they have no leader. You know, if you ask me now, I know a lot about the Democrat Party, right? I can’t tell you who their leader is. I can’t tell you that I see anybody on the horizon.”
